An esteemed guest is welcomed by women carrying pots of water...a scarce commodity in the desert. They will bathe their visitor's feet and sing the welcoming Suhaila.
I thought it fitting that my first sketch should welcome my readers in the traditional manner.
Look for pages with a pair of birds and pick out the bardic legends that have been frozen in time. Turn to the next page for the facts that formed the basis of the legend.
Look for Skinner's yellow boys as they escort Captain Tod across Rajputana. Together they have preserved the memory of the land as it was in the early 1800s.
For those of my readers who may be as geographically and directionally challenged as me, I have painted several maps superimposing modern India over ancient India.

Manoshi,
congratulations on this beautiful piece of work. It is admirable that you have a second vocation and are making such a success of it. It must be truly fascinating to delve so deeply into a subject and bring it to fruition.
I reserve a signed copy for myself.
Keep em coming.

Hi Manoshi,
The book looks really very interesting. Any idea where I can buy the book here in the U.S.? Do you know if it going to be available on amazon.com?
Sid
Dear Manoshi,
The accolades that have already appeared above speak for themselves. We people who know you are proud that you have been published again, and are proud that we know you.
People who dont know yet that there is such a book have to be awakened to the fact. Am putting out the info to my mailing list, one of the small things planned. Just be prepared for numerous reprints.
Let us know when we can wait for your next.
Regards.
Sid,
I still have to figure out how the people abroad will get to pick up the book. The Rupa site promises to ship it abroad ...I will put up the site address once it is reflecting the book. But considering all the troubles Rupa put me through I hope they are efficient in this part of their business. Perhaps it would be better to write to them before paying up on the site. I hope Amazon will pick up the book as they are reliable distributors. A safe way would be to get the local libraries to order it.
